Student Support

Learning Support

The faculty at St. Mary Nativity School includes learning specialist(s), social worker(s), and instructional aide(s). These faculty members work with classroom teachers, students, and parents to promote the success of all our learners.

St. Mary Nativity School is focused on meeting the needs of all students. Our staff monitors student progress, consults with classroom teachers and parents, assesses student academic needs, helps develop individualized plans for accommodations and services, and facilitates referrals for outside testing, and support.

Intervention Specialist(s) Supports

Intervention Specialists provide additional academic, behavioral, and emotional support to students individually and in their classrooms. Services include, but are not limited to:

Small group testing
Testing questions read aloud
Classwork and homework accommodations and modifications
Use of timers, visual schedules, and fidgets to support the classroom
Push in services to assist with curriculum in the classroom
Pull out services to provide support in a quieter space
Differentiated learning styles and curriculum
Monitoring of IEP/504 goals
Case management of Student Support Plans
Meetings with parents to discuss their child’s needs and support available
Consultation with parents about the IEP/504 referral process

Social Work

Social work services are available to all students at St. Mary Nativity School. Services include, but are not
limited to:
Individual counseling
Small group counseling
SEL instruction Grades PreK3-8th
Classroom-based groups
Classroom observations
Consultation with teachers and parents
Referrals for parents to outside support services
